Windows Firewall:
Firewall controls incoming and outgoing network traffic and establish a secure internet connection. Windows Firewall is a fire-walling and packet filtering function of Microsoft Windows.
Why need to block a program:
Apps, programs or software whatever you like to say, can use internet connection with or without your awareness. The reasons to connect to the network are, updates, showing adds, install extended and unwanted version of the program, install a new unwanted program etc. Sometimes these could be necessary. Like you don't want to miss any AMD catalyst control update, right? At the same time you don't want your program to act like a vendor, then easy way to stop the unwanted behavior of the program is to block that program.
Block program with Windows Firewall:
- At first go to Control Panel. Then select Windows Firewall
- Click on Advanced Settings.
- Then click on Inbound rules and select New Rule from Actions.
- Then select Program > This Program Path > Block the connection > ✔Domain ✔Private ✔Public > Name and finally click Finish.
- Then click on Outbound rules and select New Rule from Actions.
- Then select Program > This Program Path > Block the connection > ✔Domain ✔Private ✔Public > Name and finally click Finish.
